Atlantis Program
In 2006, ECE received a large grant from the European Commission to implement a transatlantic degree program with a major Swedish university and two highly ranked institutions in the United States.
The EU - US Atlantis Program known as “The Transatlantic Dual-Degree Program: Preparing Students for Success in the Flat World of the 21st Century” was inaugurated in October 2006 at ECE Lyon.
The 4 partner institutions involved in the consortium are:
- Western Illinois University (WIU), Macomb, Illinois;
- DePaul University - School of Computer Science, Telecommunications, and Information Systems (CTI), Chicago, Illinois;
- École de Commerce Européenne (ECE) France;
- Linköping University (LIU), Sweden.
Six students are selected from each participating institution every year and spend a total of thirteen months abroad.
The aim of the Atlantis Program is to develop potential leaders able to deal with the triple convergence of new technological infrastructures, innovative business processes, and global networks.
Designed with this in mind, our transatlantic program provides a unique curriculum including courses in international business, information technology, and globalization. In the course of their studies, “Atlantis students” earn a European bachelor's degree in International Business and a degree either in Information Systems Management, or Supply Chain Management from the U.S. Students from the four partner institutions will also be able to develop their language proficiency and communication skills.

All students from the United States.and Sweden attend an intensive course in French Language and Culture when they begin their Atlantis courses at ECE Lyon. The Lyon curriculum includes courses in International Business, Finance, Marketing and Information Systems Management.
During the 2nd semester, all students attend courses at Linkoping University in Sweden. Before the start of the term, U.S. and French students are required to participate in an orientation week that introduces them to Swedish language and culture. Students will then take credits towards their European degree in International Business. They also complete a thesis at the end of the spring term in order to fulfill degree requirements.
The entire 4th year takes place in the United States at either Western Illinois University, or DePaul University. The four Atlantis partner institutions have agreed to approve relevant transcripts and facilitate student mobility and degree completion.
All courses, except for specific host-language courses, are taught in English.
